Описание: On February 11th, 2026, Cameroon celebrated the 60th edition of National Youth Day, and Buea witnessed one of its most remarkable celebrations in nearly a decade.
At the historic Bongo Square (Independence Square), pupils, students, and higher institutions from across the municipality gathered in massive numbers to take part in the traditional march past.
From primary schools to secondary institutions and universities, the energy was vibrant, the discipline outstanding, and the patriotism undeniable.
Even heavy rainfall could not stop the celebration. Under the downpour, students continued marching for over three hours a powerful symbol of resilience, unity, and hope in the South West Region.
The Governor of the South West Region Mr Okalia Bernard Bilai chaired the ceremony and expressed gratitude to the students, teachers, and participants for the impressive turnout, noting that such a massive and peaceful gathering has not been witnessed in Buea for nearly 10 years due to regional instability.
Youth Day 2026 in Buea was more than a celebration, it was a statement that hope is returning and the future remains bright for Cameroon’s youth.
