Tributes from across Gqeberha have poured in for the first woman in Africa to navigate a submarine. Gillian Marlouw-Hector tragically passed away during a naval exercise. She died alongside two other colleagues who were swept off the submarine's deck they were standing on when big waves hit. Gillian has been described as a hard worker who loved life. The Schauderville-born naval officer's death sent shockwaves throughout the coastal city.
