NHAI has introduced India’s first 5 mm table-top red road marking on the Bhopal–Jabalpur Highway (NH-45) to slow vehicles and reduce wildlife accidents in forest zones.

The bright red, raised surface acts as a visual warning for drivers, following the recent tragic death of a cheetah cub in a hit-and-run incident. The initiative is part of a ₹122.25 crore project that also includes wildlife underpasses, fencing, and speed monitoring near protected areas.
