Interview with bereaved mother and campaigner Sara Bostock at our last conference.
Seroxat is an SSRI (Selective Seretonin Reuptake Inhibitor) which means in simple terms that it affects changes in neurotransmitters in the brain. So this kind of drug should not be suddenly stopped unless you are in the care of a hospital. Gradual reduction is possible but it is a good idea to get support and read an SSRI withdrawal protocols provided by your doctor (if you are very lucky) or from a charity. If you look at Dr David Healy's site www.RxISK.org, there should be Dr Healy's protocol available. David Healy is a Professor of psychological medicine. Professor Healy has researched and written about suicide risk for some people starting, stopping or changing doses of SSRI and similar antidepressant drugs. Drinking alcohol while on SSRI drugs, adds to the risk of suicide or violent/aggressive behaviour.
We have more videos of experts speaking at our conferences and personal experiences at: https://vimeo.com/user1816628
PLEASE NOT THAT YOU SHOULD CONSULT YOUR MEDICAL ADVISOR BEFORE STOPPING ANY TREATMENT - SOME DRUGS SHOULD NOT BE SUDDENLY STOPPED AS YOU MAY SUFFER WITHDRAWAL EFFECTS - GET ADVICE.
NO ADVERTISEMENTS THAT APPEAR ON THE SITE OR AFTER THE MOVIE ARE APPROVED BY APRIL.
