Hey everyone — Trev here! Welcome to Elks Point Lodge, an oil and rig camp in northern Alberta near Christina Lake and Conklin. In this video, I’m giving you a full walkthrough and behind-the-scenes tour of what life is really like working and living in an oil camp in Canada.

After being evacuated for 10 days due to wildfires, we’re finally back — and I thought it was the perfect time to film a detailed look at how everything works here: from the gym, dining hall, coffee station, and lounge, to the dorm rooms, kitchen, and pub side where we relax after long shifts.

This is camp life in northern Alberta — long hours, no alcohol or drugs (it’s a dry camp), free food, free lodging, and hundreds of workers living on-site for weeks at a time. It’s tough, it’s remote, but it’s also an amazing experience you won’t find anywhere else.

🛠️ About Working Camp Life:

At camps like this, we’re locked in for 2–3 weeks, then get a week off before coming back. It’s all part of oilfield life in northern Alberta — a mix of hard work, long shifts, and community.

I’m a general helper, which means I do a bit of everything: dining room cleanup, dish pit, restocking food, keeping everything ready for the next day’s crews. It’s physical work, but the benefits are solid — great food, free housing, steady pay, and a strong team atmosphere.

✔️ Everything is freshly prepared daily (nothing over 2 days old)
✔️ Each dorm shares a private “Jack and Jill” washroom

✔️ Weekly theme nights (Mexican, Indigenous, Smokehouse, etc.)
