Today I explore the abandoned Manawatū Gorge Road — a stretch of highway in New Zealand that’s been closed for years due to major slips, rockfalls, and extreme instability. This road has a huge history, and I wanted to see what’s actually left of it now… and whether it’s really as unsafe as people say.
Is it illegal? Is it dangerous? What does the old road look like today? I walked the full section to find out.
