This is my small-batch red velvet cake (oil version) made using Hollandia sweetened yogurt drink instead of buttermilk.
The result is a soft, moist, and tender cake, perfect when you don’t want to bake a large batch.
This recipe is beginner-friendly, uses oil instead of butter, and relies on simple, accessible ingredients commonly found in Nigeria and similar regions.
The small crack you may notice on top happened while I was testing the cake with a skewer — not a recipe issue 😊.
🧁 INGREDIENTS (SMALL BATCH – 6 INCH PAN)

Plain flour — 120g
Cocoa powder — 1 tsp
Sugar — 120g
Vegetable oil — 60ml
Egg — 1 egg
Hollandia sweetened yogurt drink — 140ml
Baking soda — 1/2 tsp
Salt — 1/4 tsp optional
Vanilla extract — 1/2 tsp
White Vinegar 1 tsp optional
Red food colouring — 1/2 tsp
🔥 BAKING
Pan size: 6-inch round
Oven temperature: 160--170 Celsius
Baking time: 30 --35 mins

This cake works well for layering, frosting, or serving plain
Oil keeps the cake moist even after refrigeration
Hollandia yogurt drink provides moisture and slight tang.
