Bangkok is known for number of beautiful temples. The cultural tourism in this city is truly immaculate with magnificent architecture and a rich history of how the temple came into existence. Upon visiting the treasures of the city, you might have temple fatigue, a condition where all the temples may seem similar and monotonous. However, there is one temple that will give you a different outlook of Thai culture and religion and that is the breath-taking Wat Pariwat temple or the David Beckham temple. The Wat Pariwat temple, formerly known as the Wat Pariwat Ratchasongkram is a one-of-a-kind temple complex that was built during the reign of King Rama II and III. One of the unique aspects about this temple complex is the ordination hall and the fact that it took around 300 million baht to build it. Therefore, if you pay close attention to the architecture, you will be able to find that the sculptures and murals are made with real gemstones, crystals and diamonds. The ordination hall by far is the most attractive one you might have seen so far, the sculptures outside the temple are well designed with skilled craftsmen and you will be able to see unique statues such as Greek mythological creatures, Egyptian gods and goddesses and even Disney or other comic characters such as Batman and Captain America. After saying hi to the mickey mouse outside the temple, you will finally have the chance to enter the ordination hall and it is sure to take your breath away. The magnificent 3D murals seem larger than life and, in those murals, you will be able to find influences from different religions such as Christianity, Islam and Hinduism. This signifies that this temple is a safe space of all religions where everyone can coexist and pray in harmony. This place is even for people who are atheists as there is also a mural of Albert Einstein who is the representation of Atheism as a belief. Followed by that temple is the grand David Beckham temple which has a small statue of the famous footballer right below the Buddha statue. There is also a famous holy water in the temple where devotees can come seek for blessings and cleanse their house. Lastly, as you reach the end of the temple, there is also a huge statue of the Hindu God Ganesha from whom you can seek blessings and wisdom. This temple is surely a sight to see, from the magnificent ordination hall to the lesser-known David Beckham temple. If you are a Buddhist or even an Atheist, this temple is respecting of all religion and belief system, so be sure to visit for a good and tranquil time in the Wat Pariwat temple.
