If your goal is to construct a wooden gate then this is a good design. Even if you want a single wood gate you can still use the concept that I did just on one side. Even if you use this design to build you a privacy gate, driveway gate, car gate, or any other custom gate, make sure your hardware is heavy-duty.


This is for easy access to my backyard because it opens up on both sides. Now I can drive my Suburban in the backyard.

On making the frame you have to make sure all your cuts are perfect. I used my miter saw and my circular saw to make sure every single cut was a perfectly straight cut. Then next I used my speed square to make sure all my boards were at 90°. I used my drill to make pilot holes and then I hammered in the nails. I used my reciprocating saw to trim off the extra post that I had cemented into the ground. Since I didn't have anyone to assist me I had to use clamps and a floor jack to hold the gate frame to the post. Then I just lined up the fence boards from the bottom and screwed in 2 to 3 screws per board. Attach your hardware such as a handle and gate lock and then you're ready to enjoy your new gate for years to come.
