GLP-1 agonist medications like Ozempic are getting a lot of coverage lately, but how do they work? 🤔
These medications were created for the treatment of diabetes for their effectiveness in reducing blood sugar spikes, but also show some promise in obesity treatment, with new studies showing that patients with heart failure related to obesity have significant improvement in their heart function and symptoms, independent of just losing the weight. Interestingly, a substudy suggests that patients with both AFib and heart failure saw even more pronounced benefits!
