With a desire to vote for her own beliefs, Delores Spencer does not want to belong to one of the main political parties.
Oregon's Ballot Measure 90 would open Oregon's primary election system so that all voters, including nonaffiliated independents, could vote on a wide range of candidates from all parties.
The current system for independents typically restricts the available choices to a candidate from each party selected by its members.
Independent voters, which make up 40 percent of the national electorate, have no say in which candidates surface from these parties for the general election.
