Описание: De trein van de week kon je niet raden, want je hebt hem nog niet voorbij zien komen. Het is de diesellocomotief 1600 van de CFL, de Luxemburgse spoorwegen. Op 23 juni is het namelijk de nationale feestdag van dat land, dus dachten we waarom ook niet een Luxemburgse locomotief.

Ze werden gebouwd tussen 1954/55 door bekende Belgische spoorwegfabrikant La Brugeoise et Nivelles. De Belgen hadden deze locs ook, als serie 5500, maar ze waren niet 100 procent identiek aan de Luxemburgse machines. Het is echt een prachtige diesellocomotief, waarvan er gelukkig een aantal exemplaren bewaard van zijn gebleven.

You couldn't guess the train of the week, because you haven't seen it pass by yet. It is the diesel locomotive 1600 of the CFL, the Luxembourg railways. June 23 is the national holiday of that country, so we thought why not a Luxembourg locomotive.

They were built between 1954/55 by well-known Belgian railway manufacturer La Brugeoise et Nivelles. The Belgians also had these locomotives, as series 5500, but they were not 100 percent identical to the Luxembourg machines. It really is a beautiful diesel locomotive, of which fortunately a number of copies have been preserved.
