Take a quiet walk with me amongst the pines at Lower Tokai Park in Cape Town, South Africa.
This plantation is one of the many diverse sections of Tokai. It offers flat, shaded, family-friendly paths that are very popular for walking dogs, cycling and horse riding. Wildlife includes a diversity of birds, frogs, reptiles and the occasional baboons.
The future of the plantation is a controversial topic. Many local residents want to keep the beautiful, fragrant trees that offer walkers shelter from the wind and sun while others are passionate about restoring and protecting Cape Town's indigenous, unique and endangered Fynbos environment.
I wanted to capture and share the sensation of walking amongst the pines while they are still around.
