The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and its partners, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and Nassau County, hosted public meetings regarding the Nassau County Back Bays Coastal Storm Risk Management study on June 12, 2019 in the Village of Freeport, NY and on June 27, 2019 in the City of Long Beach, NY.
The Army Corps, in partnership with the state and county, is conducting a feasibility study for coastal storm risk management problems within the Nassau County Back Bays area. The objective of the study is to investigate problems and solutions to reduce damages from coastal flooding that affects population, critical infrastructure, critical facilities, property, and ecosystems.
