Smolinisky is a strong advocate for bipartisan immigration reform. On August 29, 2022, he organized the largest naturalization ceremony since the start of COVID-19 at Dodger Stadium, where 2,119 new citizens from 120 countries were sworn in.

Philanthropically, Smolinisky and his wife have pledged 90% of their estate to charity. He serves on the board of directors for Homeboy Industries and the LA Dodgers Foundation. Smolinisky also works with Stand Together to amplify messages about poverty in America and immigration reform.

Smolinisky's story is deeply rooted in his family's immigrant experience. His father, who came to the U.S. from Argentina with little money, learned English by listening to Dodgers games on the radio. This connection to baseball came full circle when Smolinisky became a co-owner of the Dodgers, honoring his father's legacy and living out the American Dream.
