2 Year Review of my 2017 BMW F80 M3 Competition

Описание: After just over 2 years of ownership, it was finally time to make an F80 review video. It always cracks me up the intervals people choose for a review: 10,000 mile review, 50,000 mile review, 3 month review, 6 month review, 291 day review. I went with 2 years because I wasn't making YouTube videos when it had been a year. And I tried to get this done on the Gotcha Day (12/5) but it wasn't happening.

In any case, I figure the F8X cars still have a long life ahead on the pre-owned market and I watched a TON of these videos while looking (and waiting) for my car, so I wanted to throw my hat in the M3 review ring. Speaking of rings, the donuts in the parking lot aren't mine; just thought they'd make for a good backdrop for an aerial shot.

I should note that I've never driven any other M car, or BMW for that matter, other than my F80 (and Nardo, of course). So I really have no perspective of the performance and capabilities of other eras of M3; this isn't a comparison video, it's a review.

I broke the review into 4 parts: style, performance, economics and convenience (SPEC) and some overall impressions most which is just me saying it's a fantastic car over and over. Essentially, the F8X does it all: daily driver, weekend road toy, track car. Brutally quick, infinitely customizable and, in my humble opinion, the best looking M3 ever made.

As for production notes, this one was more challenging than I thought it'd be. I thought it was just going to be a lot of talking, which it is, but then I got into adding some car footage to break it up a bit and supplement the talking points and, as usual, got nit-picky over stuff. All in all, it was fun putting this one together.

The one thing that took a lot of time was the audio. I was attempting to use the shotgun mic on the camera in addition to the backup recordings on my DJI mic (which I've only used once so far) and while editing, I found there were periodic places where the DJI audio glitched and threw everything out of sync with the camera's audio. So if you notice a few weird, half second anomalies, that's audio missing from the DJI mic that I had to fill in with just the shotgun mic audio.

Actually, while editing, I noticed the green light blinking on the transmitter. It should be solid green so I'm guessing there was a connection or syncing issue I missed. Otherwise, I love the audio quality so I'm hoping it was a one off incident.

Anyway, for anyone new to the channel who found this video because you're considering picking up an F8X, I couldn't recommend them enough. Give the video a watch and let me know what you think.

I know when I was waiting for mine to get here, I watched a lot of review and delivery videos. Something about watching others get something you just bought and are waiting for.. It's like passing the time in the most torturous way possible.
