Speaking during the 8th EU-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue in Islamabad, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas commended Pakistan’s engagement in efforts aimed at reducing tensions between the United States and Iran. She said Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach helped create space for dialogue and contributed to preventing a wider regional conflict.

Kallas emphasized the importance of building on the current ceasefire and pursuing broader negotiations, particularly regarding Iran’s nuclear programme, to achieve long-term stability. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar welcomed the EU’s appreciation and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting peaceful solutions through dialogue and diplomacy.

The dialogue also covered cooperation in trade, investment, climate action, security, migration, and human rights, reflecting the growing partnership between Pakistan and the European Union.
