The GWR 8000 Class was a proposed design by the drawing office of the Great Western Railway with interest of the Chief Mechanical Engineer F.W. Hawksworth, who had a hand in making the GWR 111 "The Great Bear". Although the idea was of interest to Hawksworth, especially seeing the success of the LMS Princess Royal, it was eventually put to one side & never picked up again. But what if they had chosen to go with the GWR Cathedrals instead as the basis for the new locomotive?
