Lean is a systematic way of eliminating waste and creating a workflow in the production system. Here the emphasis is on two things; the elimination of waste and the creation of workflow
Elimination of waste means the elimination of 7 deadly wastes in the production system. These 7 deadly wastes are known as TIMWOOD; Transportation, Inventory, Motion, Waiting, Over-production, Over-processing, and Defects. A separate video on these 7 deadly wastes you may watch in the future on SWL
Creating workflow means increasing the speed or efficiency of the production system. It implies reducing the manufacturing times within the production system or reducing the time gaps between different operations on the product on different platforms in assembly lines or in other words you may say that reducing the movement time of the product from one platform to the next platform.
