BUBBLES TRAIL is a ~2.1 mile trail with a ~0.1 mile Trail Branch that goes to the glacial erratic known as Bubble Rock, an estimated 14 ton boulder left on the side of the South Bubble by a receding glacier.

This trail offers a variety of terrain across its traverse of three small peaks. From the Jordan Pond Trailhead, a moderate uphill hike over rocky terrain with fallen pine needles forest leads to a steep ascent that might be better suited having more than a single iron rung to assist. The incredible view of Jordan Pond and the surrounding mountains is reward for the effort, but if you don't like steep drops avoid this section of BUBBLES TRAIL. Descending this part can be nerve wracking for experienced hikers. The climbing section arrives at a granite uphill walk with wood framed terraces and then wanders along level paths with occasional lifts of granite rising up and sparse mountain trees to arrive at the 736' summit.

A short way from the summit, a small trail wanders down smooth granite ledges to Bubble Rock, a glacial erratic and famous park feature. Perched high above Jordan Pond, this boulder is evidence of forces which shaped the Maine coastline. It provides a setting for photos, but does have steep drops nearby that visitors should be aware of.

The descent from atop South Bubble towards the BUBBLES DIVIDE, a trail that goes between North and South Bubble, is very straightforward. MULTIPLE wood framed terraced stone and dirt steps, dirt pathways, and smooth granite lead down to the intersection and overlap with BUBBLES DIVIDE. Before you arrive at that junction there is a scenic overlook looking west. A brief section of overlap between the two trails wanders through a birch forest before they diverge once more. BUBBLES TRAIL continues to the summits of North Bubble and Conners Nubble before finally finishing at the north end of Eagle Lake.

At the split of BUBBLES TRAIL and BUBBLES DIVIDE most hikers who were on trail only to visit Bubble Rock will continue down to a parking area which holds ~20 cars. If they came from Jordan Pond, a return on nearby JORDAN POND CARRY goes back to the south BUBBLES TRAIL Trailhead completing a loop.

Up South Bubble is a great intro to steep climbing and good to try before BEEHIVE TRAIL
