LMS Jubilee Class, 45699 Galatea has shown her worth in recent years, not least 2018 where 45699 has proved herself the stalwart for steam hauled rail tours. This little tribute remembers that moment on 28th March 2013, when the Jubilee took her first tentative steps on the mainline again as a fully restored steam locomotive, (albeit briefly), through Carnforth station only for that first test to be aborted before she could take the road to Settle.
I have included all the footage I took of this event for those who want to see and included a couple of the many occasions since, where 45699 shows us what she can do.

Locomotive history;
April 1936; Built at Crewe works. LMS number 5699
May 1948; renumbered 45699
Sept 1950; Based at Bristol
Oct 1961; transferred to Shrewsbury
Nov 1964; withdrawn from service
Dec 1964; stored at Eastleigh works
Jan 1965 - Apr 1980; Woodhams scrapyard Barry
1980; rescued as spares for 45690 Leander
Aug 2002; moved to Carnforth for restoration
April 2013; returned to mainline service after complete overhaul.
