What is Uluwatu?
Uluwatu is a village and coastal region on the south-western tip of Bali’s Bukit Peninsula.
The name comes from “ulu” (land’s end or top) + “watu” (rock) — meaning “land’s end rock” — because it sits on dramatic cliffs above the Indian Ocean.
🛕 Uluwatu Temple
The most iconic site there is Pura Luhur Uluwatu, an ancient Balinese Hindu sea temple on a cliff edge that’s one of the island’s directional temples meant to protect Bali.
It’s also famous for sunset views and traditional Kecak fire dance performances in the evenings.
