Ramadan is a sacred month for Muslims around the world, commemorating the time when Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) received the first revelation of the Holy Qur’an. It is a period of fasting, reflection, prayer, and acts of service, reinforcing faith and fostering a deep sense of gratitude and community. Each evening, the fast is broken at Iftar, a meal that brings people together in the spirit of generosity and togetherness.
On Tuesday, March 11, the Aga Khan Council for Canada hosted an Iftar dinner at the Ismaili Centre Toronto, welcoming a diverse group of 290 guests, supported by 75 dedicated volunteers, to share in this important tradition.
The Ismaili Centre, part of a global network of six such institutions, serves as a space for intellectual exchange and cultural dialogue. The Iftar gathering embodied this mission, fostering meaningful connections and reinforcing the shared values of compassion, understanding, and unity.
The event helped to renew a sense of connection within a diverse community, embodying the spirit of Ramadan — one of gratitude, service, and togetherness.
