The Sub1 gene--identified by researchers at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and University of California--enables rice to survive complete submergence for up to 17 days--seeing is believing! To show the effect of the Sub1 gene, a time-lapse video, done over the period of 14 June-16 October 2007 on the IRRI farm, was prepared by IRRI's photography and video section.
