Two days exploring the best of San Diego’s mountains and coast! We spent Day 1 wandering the historic gold-mining town of Julian and Day 2 heading deep underground in La Jolla.
📍 Day 1: Julian, CA
Mom’s Pie House: Grabbed a slice of the famous apple pie (a must-do!).
Shopping: Explored the Julian Soap Company (amazing potpourri) and the year-round Julian Christmas Store.
Getting There: Take I-8 East to Hwy 79 North. It's about a 75-minute drive from San Diego.
Pro Tip: Park for free on Main St, but arrive before 11:00 AM on weekends to beat the crowds.
📍 Day 2: La Jolla, CA
Sunny Jim’s Sea Cave: Entered through The Cave Store to walk 144 steps down into California’s only land-accessible sea cave.
Getting There: Located at 1325 Coast Blvd.
Entry: Admission is ~$13 for adults. The tunnel is narrow and the steps can be damp, so wear sturdy shoes!
Parking: Look for free 2-3 hour street parking along Coast Blvd or use the paid garage across from the store.
