Here we have one of the finest chimes of bells in Sussex. They were cast by Gillett & Johnston in the 1949 and 1950 and are hung dead for stationary chiming. They are rung from the first floor of the tower and are rung by means of a 'baton clavier', similar to that of Broadwater in Worthing.
The church is one of the closest in Sussex to the sea, yet ironically one of the highest, with the tower offering clear views of France on a good day. One visitor even said they saw The Shard in London however this is perhaps just a tale! The tower itself was a landmark in World War Two for aircraft returning to England from Europe. Still to this day, it is used as a focal point for shipping in the channel.
