Director James Cameron originally didn’t want any vocals in the music, but Horner thought adding a song could really boost the emotional impact. So, he secretly teamed up with Celine Dion and created “My Heart Will Go On.” When Horner finally showed it to Cameron, he braced for a rejection—but Cameron loved it. Even Dion wasn’t thrilled to record it at first, but after some convincing, she gave it a shot. That first take is actually what you hear on the soundtrack, and it ended up topping charts worldwide and selling over 30 million copies.
