Kumortuli is a traditional potter's quarter in northern Kolkata, West Bengal. The city is renowned for its sculpting prowess, which not only manufactures clay idols for various festivals but also regularly exports them. More than 450 workshops owned by master sculptors regularly create idols of Gods, Goddesses and models for museums and galleries here.
The current situation of Kumartuli is not very good compare to other years because of the pandemic, Till now they have not received as much idols order from puja committee's. Whatever idols are getting ready comparatively small from other years.
In this video I have cuptured some glimpse of kumartuli where artisans are in the process of making beautiful Durga idols for durga puja 2021
