Iranian officials have warned that the conflict could turn into a prolonged war of attrition capable of severely damaging the global economy.

The spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs Randhir Jaiswal during the Inter - Ministerial briefing on recent developments in West Asia today on 13.03.2026 informed that PM Modi spoke to Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian last evening and stressed on New Delhi's priority regarding the safety and well-being of Indian nationals in the region, including in Iran.

In a weekly media briefing yesterday on 12.03.2026 Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal informed that there are around 9 thousand Indian nationals in Iran and the Indian Government has shifted several Indians from Tehran to safer locations.
