Hi, Jordan Sandler here with More Prepared Minutes. When it comes to earthquakes, being prepared before it happens is as important as knowing what to do when one occurs. If you do a few simple things in your home beforehand, you can prevent serious damage and save a lot of money.

To protect your home from earthquake damage, there are several things you should do. If you have a water heater, a Quick Strap Water Heater Restraint is easy to install and keeps your water heater from falling over and causing a fire or damaging pipes during an earthquake. Restraints are required on all water heater installations in California, but if you haven't had a new water heater installed recently, it might not be strapped.
