This chapter of my story is about the moment addiction completely took control of my life. I finally got a real opportunity working security at libraries across Minneapolis — people trusted me, supervisors trained me, and I had a chance to rebuild. But inside, I was struggling. I couldn’t cope with my withdrawal symptoms, hid my struggles from others, and made choices that put my job at risk. Eventually, the pressure became too much, and I walked away from the job — and that decision cost me everything. Addiction doesn’t just take your future, it slowly takes your honesty, your dignity, and the opportunities you once prayed for.
