This video presents a book from a series of early readers created specifically for children in the Pacific Islands. These resources teach fundamental reading skills using place-based and culturally-appropriate stories narrated by Pacific Islander children. With friendly characters of different ages, genders, and disabilities interacting within rich Pacific landscapes, environments, and the island way of life, these books encourage students to explore new concepts within familiar contexts. Created by Island Research & Education Initiative (iREi) through the Australian Government’s Australia Pacific Climate Partnership (APCP) working with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GiZ)
on a programme called Accelerating Climate Education (ACE)
for the Pacific.
