Описание: It is one year on since 7 May 2025 when India had launched a series of strikes, named as ''Operation Sindoor'' on sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. This was two weeks after a deadly militant attack on tourists in Pahalgam of Indian-administered Kashmir, killed 25 Indians and one Nepali national.

The Indian defence ministry said the strikes were part of a "commitment" to hold "accountable" those responsible for the 22 April attack in Pahalgam. But Pakistan has denied any involvement in that attack and described the strikes as "unprovoked".

Pakistan's military last year said, least 31 people were killed and 57 injured in the strikes on the night of 7th May 2025. India's army said at least 15 civilians were killed and 43 injured by Pakistani shelling on its side of the de facto border at that time.

One year on, BBC Correspondents on both sides, Sumedha Pal in Indian-administered Kashmir and Shumaila Khan in Pakistan met border families who lost their loved ones in these attacks.
