While the EU fines Hungary €1 million per day, armed smuggling gangs are shooting at border guards with automatic weapons. Viktor Orban deployed special forces, armored vehicles, and military reconnaissance to defend Europe's external border—and Brussels punishes him for it.
In the first four months of 2025, Hungary stopped over 5,000 violent illegal border crossings—five times more than 2024. Serbian police found assault rifles and 1,500 rounds of ammunition in smuggler camps. 168 Hungarian officers have been wounded. But Brussels would rather fine Hungary €665 million per year than acknowledge the reality on the ground.
The numbers prove Orban's model works: 95% reduction in illegal crossings, minimal social costs, and actual security for citizens. That's exactly why Brussels hates it. Because if other countries copy Hungary, the entire open border ideology collapses.
