Welcome back to the build series on my 1970 Plymouth GTX 440 Six-Barrel V-Code Mopar! In Episode #4, we dive deep into the heart of the beast — it's time to tear down the original 440 engine, give it a much-needed deep clean, and bring it back to life.
We start by stripping the engine down to its bones, then prepping and repainting the block for that factory-fresh look. From there, we restore all the key engine accessories to get everything looking and functioning like new.
But the real highlight? The long-awaited install of the FiTech fuel-injected Six Barrel system! We bolt on the new throttle bodies, finish running the fuel lines, hook up the throttle linkages, and get one step closer to firing this thing up. Along the way, we hit a few bumps and expose some issues with the EFI system — and I’ll walk you through the fixes and workarounds.
This episode is all about the details, the restoration, and the performance upgrades that make this classic Mopar truly come alive.
