Finland tests electric autonomous buses for public transportation

The "Sohjoa" project has been going on the last two years - a public transport pilot-program, co-financed by the EU, on the roads of Helsinki and Espoo in Finland.
The team at Metropolia University of Aplied Science have teste a system of electric autonomous buses for the first / last mile trip.
After two years of testing in closed and open, mixed traffic system, the findings can be diseminated and shared with others who wish to implement such sistems.
Next in the line, "Sohjoa Baltic", a system of robot buses tested in different cities around the Baltic Sea.
"After five years will see more projects that will be more than pilots. In the coming fiver years we will see more test projects being tested in Europe, Asia or the United States", says Oscar Nissin, project manager for the SOHJOA project.
