In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to assemble individual parts inside a SolidWorks Assembly file from start to finish. We begin with the fundamentals—how to insert components, fix and float parts, and understand the Assembly interface—then move step-by-step into applying mates correctly and efficiently.
You’ll master the most important Standard Mates such as coincident, parallel, perpendicular, concentric, and distance, and understand when and why to use each one. After that, we dive into Advanced Mates, including limit mates, symmetry, and width mates, to control motion and fully define complex mechanisms.
The focus is not just on clicking commands, but on thinking like a mechanical designer—understanding degrees of freedom, eliminating unwanted movement, and building stable, realistic assemblies.
By the end of this video, you’ll be able to:
Properly position and constrain parts
Fully define assemblies without over-constraining them
Control motion using advanced mating techniques
Avoid common beginner mistakes
This tutorial is ideal for beginners who want a strong foundation, as well as intermediate users looking to improve their assembly workflow and design logic.
