What can I say, I love Yoasobi and I love Kapustin.
This is a mashup of 夜に駆ける / Yoru ni Kakeru and Op. 40 no. 8, and the first idea arose and was written down as early as February, when I penned a version of the 1st bridge during a lunch break. I then worked on it on and off for months before shelving it temporarily after my previous video of this piece. Most of the remainder was written in September 2024, and all of it was finalised by the start of October. Spot the three references I've thrown in to non-Kapustin music!
Recording this was hard. Between this arrangement and Kapustin's "Finale" Étude • Nikolai Kapustin: "Finale" from 8 Concert ... I feel like I might have given myself carpal tunnel. Ouch.
