Theft of Hawaii Has Led to Systemic Oppression, Dispossession and Gentrification

Описание: The interconnectedness of American imperialism, the theft of Hawaii, and the gentrification of the islands is clear. American imperialism led to the theft/takeover of Hawaii, which in turn led to the dispossession of Native Hawaiians and the gentrification of the islands. 

The gentrification of Hawaii is a clear example of how systemic oppression can play out in real life. As the state's popularity as a tourist destination has increased, so too has the demand for housing. This has led to an influx of wealthy investors, who have bought up property and driven up prices causing gentrification at an alarming rate in recent years.  As a result, many Native Hawaiians are now facing a number of challenges, including poverty, homelessness, and cultural loss. Many have been forced to move away from their homeland.

Remember, this displacement is not just a matter of economics. It is also a matter of culture and identity. Native Hawaiians have a long and rich history in Hawaii, and they are deeply connected to their land and culture. Gentrification is threatening to erase both.
