The musical boundaries are shattered and the senses sharpened when the Copenhagen resident Brazilian voice icon Marcela Lucatelli takes over the stage during this year’s Copenhagen Jazz Festival with an extraordinary avant-garde jazz concert. With her are two prominent, award-winning musicians from the European jazz scene: German Jonas Engel on saxophone and electronics and Swiss Dominik Mahnig on drums. The audience can expect an elegant and raw sound tapestry in equal parts, where elements of jazz, experimental music and free improvisation are woven together for an engrossing and transformative experience, all the while Lucatelli explores the limits of her voice’s ability through soothing vocal harmonies, ominous breaths, crooked microtones and everything in between.
