Snack Hacker with George Egg - Potato Pie

Описание: Volume 12, Episode 6. George Egg is the Snack Hacker, demonstrating fast, easy, innovative ideas for tasty bites. In Brighton there's a bakery called The Real Patisserie where you can buy potato pie. It's superb. Here's my fast and easy version using a couple of things from Lidl (or Aldi, they both do them).

INGREDIENTS:
1 pack of ready-to-cook potato gratin
1 pack rolled shortcrust pastry
1 chicken or veg stockpot
1 tbsp dijon mustard
about half a nutmeg, grated
lots of black pepper
1 egg yolk

METHOD:
Butter a small loose-bottomed cake tin and line the ideas and bottom with pastry making sure any joins are well-sealed to avoid leaks. Mix the stock pot jelly with the mustard (you might need to add a little of the gratin sauce to the mix to get it dissolved) and add to the potatoes. Stir through the nutmeg and lots of pepper before packing the potato mixture into the lined tin. Add a lid, again making sure it's well-sealed, cut a small hole in the top and glaze with egg yolk. bake at 190ºC for about 45 minutes. Let it cool, remove it from the tin and enjoy your pie in thick wedges.
