Form of the Song
"Her Majesty" is a short, but fast paced, quarter-minute ditty on the 1969 record, Abbey Road, by British rocker, The Beatles. The 23-second song was written and recorded by Paul McCartney on guitar.
This track is the actual last track on the Abbey Road record. The original ending was the three-piece medley, ending with "The End." The track, however, appears a few seconds shortly after the end, without being listed on the record, making it one of music's initial hidden tracks.
The song starts off slow, but kicks in with some quick chord changes and even quicker vocals by McCartney. "Her Majesty" impressively uses eight chords in those few seconds, but the chords are simple, as are their transitions. The vocals keep pace with the vocals and stream in a folksy manner to the song.
"Her Majesty" only uses a few lines of lyrics, all on the acoustic guitar, sung by McCartney.
