But the starting point of the war was several years earlier, just after World War I, when the victors - Britain, France, USA, etc. - decided with the Treaty of Versailles to punish Germany, whom they saw as starting the war.

The stipulations of the Treaty restricted Germany's economic growth by requiring them to pay war reparations to other countries involved. It also limited their military expansion. The result was a terrible economic situation in Germany during already difficult global economic times.

This situation, a depressed German population, a depressed German economy, laid the groundwork for an insane, manipulative, and horrible dictator to batter his way to power...
