In this video, I transcribed Aaron Parks demonstrating one of his metronome practice routines on standard 'Stablemates'. On Noah Kellman's Jazz Lab Ep.5, Aaron Parks shares his wisdom on practicing and playing jazz piano. Among the tips he gave that day, I was quite fascinated with this exercise, where he sets metronome and divide the beats in 3 and then counts it in 4/4, which is quite unique approach of practicing with metronome.
I tried to understand the process by just watching again and again the video, but quite frankly could not get it by heart although I thought I understood the concept in my brain. Transcribing the play and notating the metronome beats helped me understand this process thoroughly, and I'm currently trying to do this practice routine.
