Dr Alain Kohl delivered the Hot Topic Lecture at the Society's Annual Conference 2016, entitled "Zika Virus, from obscurity to threat".
Alain works at the MRC-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research and has researched arthropod-borne viruses his entire career.
The Microbiology Society is a membership charity for scientists interested in microbes, their effects and their practical uses. It is one of the largest microbiology societies in Europe with a worldwide membership based in universities, industry, hospitals, research institutes and schools.
