"How to Improve Participatory Democracy in the EU" a debate by UEF & Alliance4Europe 8 October 2020

Описание: The right to vote, freely and effectively is at the heart of EU's values anf of democracy - as we are witnessing in #USA2020 elections. Are ALL elections, free and fair in the EU? We, at UEF groupe Europe and Alliance4Europe say NO:
17 Million Europeans, living in another EU country can only vote (in theory) in local and EU elections;
All 500 Million Europeans can only vote for regional or national candidates;
A recent report by the European Parliament also says NO: there are physcial and legal barriers for disabled citizens and minorities and several other quirks to be improved

Two Europe wide Professors - Alberto Alemanno (HEC Paris) and Olivier Costa (European Collège de Bruges) and three up and coming Members of European Parliament (MEPs) - Philippe Lamberts (BE - European Greens), Domenec Ruiz Devesa (ES - Socialists & Democrats) and Damian Boeselager (DE - Volt - Member of European Greens group) debate the above with Giorgio Clarotti co-founder of Alliance4Europe and Head of Communication at UEF Groupe Europe in a 1 hour long debate with questions coming from the web - via Slido - and from the WebEx platform which powered this event.

The #1Head2Votes campaign by UEF Groupe Europe started in 2016. It aims at allowing some Members of the EU Parliament to be elected by a pan-European electoral college, on trans-national lists with hte best candidats from all over the EU. This September, 15 citizens launched in addition the #VotersWithoutBorders European Citizen Initiative to allow all EU citizens to vote more and better.
