24hrs in Ella was NOT ENOUGH

to truly appreciate the city of Ella in Sri Lanka, we started our day by hiking Little Adam's Peak which is most likely the most popular hike in Ella and fankly one of the most popular hike in Sri Lanka. It only takes about 30 minutes to hike up and it rewards you with a breathtaking view of Ella's landscape.

From there, we walked to the Nine Arch Bridge and let us tell you, this magnificent railroad bridge, does not disappoint. It is the ultimate showcase of railway constructions from the colonial era. Surprisingly, you can walk on the bridge as long as there is no train going cross. This is a most and make sure to time the train to see is cross Ella's 9 Arch Bridge.

For lunch, we went to Roti Hut for some delicious chicken kottu of course! This authentic Sri Lankan meal because a favorite for us. If you've never tried chicken kottu in Sri Lanka, put that at the top of your Sri Lankan food list!

Before the rain or at least, this is what we thought, we took a tuktuk to the beautiful Dowa Rock Temple. This temple has an impressive rock sculpture of over 20m high that was carved over 2,000 years ago. And let's just appreciate how amazing our tuktuk driver was. What a man!

Finally, we went to Matey Hut for an authentic Sri Lankan cooking class. This was the highlight of our time in Ella. We had so much fun learning and cooking different curries, roti, coconut sambol, and so much more. On top of being delicious, it was such a fun experience.

In terms of accommodations in Ella, we stayed at a nice little Sri Lankan home stay called Welcome Inn. This is perfect if you are looking for a budget friendly hotel in Ella and make sure to ask the host to prepare you dinner, it was so good!
