To clear up long-standing confusion regarding employees' pensions, the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has issued a major clarification. The organization has clearly stated that the old option of pension contributions based on full salary will remain in effect, but this will not be considered a new feature; rather, it is a reinstatement of an existing system. This benefit will only be available to employees who opted for a higher pension before 2014. In 2014, the central government set a maximum pensionable salary limit of ₹15,000 and a minimum monthly pension of ₹1,000. This limit resulted in the calculation of pensions for employees whose actual salaries exceeded ₹15,000, significantly reducing their retirement amount. According to regulations, both employees and companies contribute 12% of their basic salary to the provident fund, and a portion of the company's contribution goes towards the pension scheme.


कर्मचारियों की पेंशन को लेकर लंबे समय से चल रहे भ्रम को दूर करने के लिए कर्मचारी भविष्य निधि संगठन (EPFO) ने बड़ा स्पष्टीकरण दिया है। संगठन ने साफ कहा है कि पूरी सैलरी के आधार पर पेंशन योगदान का पुराना विकल्प फिर से लागू रहेगा, लेकिन इसे कोई नई सुविधा नहीं माना जाएगा, बल्कि यह पहले से मौजूद व्यवस्था की बहाली है। इसका फायदा केवल उन्हीं कर्मचारियों को मिलेगा जिन्होंने साल 2014 से पहले हायर पेंशन का विकल्प चुना था। दरअसल साल 2014 में केंद्र सरकार ने पेंशन योग्य सैलरी की अधिकतम सीमा 15,000 रुपये तय कर दी थी और न्यूनतम मासिक पेंशन 1,000 रुपये घोषित की थी। इस सीमा का असर यह हुआ कि जिन कर्मचारियों की असली सैलरी 15,000 रुपये से ज्यादा थी, उनकी पेंशन की गणना भी इसी सीमा के आधार पर होने लगी, जिससे उनकी रिटायरमेंट के बाद मिलने वाली राशि काफी कम हो गई। नियमों के अनुसार कर्मचारी और कंपनी दोनों बेसिक सैलरी का 12-12 प्रतिशत हिस्सा भविष्य निधि में जमा करते हैं और कंपनी के हिस्से का एक भाग पेंशन योजना में जाता है।
