Stakeholders in the agriculture sector have praised government for introducing bills aimed at promoting growth and improvement in the industry.
Government has presented three bills to Parliament awaiting enactment: the Food Reserve Agency Bill, the Agriculture Credit and Warehouse Bill, and the Agriculture Marketing Bill. The legislation is targeted at encouraging a private sector-led agricultural value chain.
Speaking during a consultative meeting organized by the Indaba Agricultural Policy Research Institute (IAPRI) in Lusaka, Executive Director Brian Mulenga said the agriculture sector continues to play a vital role in driving economic growth and trade.
