At the age of 75 years practising Yoga in this way is not easy. Yoga is a gift for the whole mankind. the whole world is adopting and practising yoga. In the last few years charm of yoga has increased. Yoga is beneficial for all age group.
yoga is equally important and beneficial for the senior citizens. With increasing age the body parts become slow. There is less mobility of the joins. Stiffness of the joints is a common problem in the old age. Blood pressure, Diabetes, Heart problem are the other problems which are faced by the senior citizens. So in order to maintain the energy level in the old age and proper functioning of the whole bodily organs yoga practice is very important.
In this video you will see that at the age of 75 is my father is practicing Gomukh Asana. He has told the benefits of Gomukhasana.
The main physical benefits of Gomukhasana include:
Stretches your butt (aka Gluteus Maximius, Minimus, and Medius) which helps relieve tightness in your hips and lower back pain.
Opens your shoulders and increases the range of motion for your shoulder joint.
Stretches the chest.
Stretches triceps and strengthens biceps.
Stretches quads (thighs).
Gomukhasana is one of the few poses we do in yoga where we internally rotate the arm/shoulder. This action stretches your external rotators, which are more commonly used in yoga, and prepares them for work in other poses.
Because your hands press into your back in this pose it encourages proper alignment of your spine and helps strengthen your back.
You will see that many youngsters can not perform this type of yoga in their young age. Because their body gets his stiffness in very early age. One can maintain this type of mobility in the body by the regular practice of yoga.
